- Curator's comments
- Nos. 1-6 and 9-15 are intaglio prints after Gottfried Mind published by Johann Peter Lamy in about 1818. Lonchamp suggested that Lamy published 3 series with a total of 18 plates. However, the three books kept in the Lloyd collection contain a total of 29 different intaglio prints (1958,0712.3086.1-12; 1958,0712.3087.1-12; 1958,0712.3050.1-23). Moreover, the album 1958,0712.3050.1-23 includs 5 loose prints that are blind stamped with the mark of Johann Peter Lamy and mounted on Whatman paper dated 1828 (nos. 19-23). Therefore, Lamy published at least 34 prints after drawings by Mind.
Nos. 7-8 are lithographs by Joseph Brodtmann.
Nos. 16-18 are lithographs without any lettering. They probably are from the series 'Neue Sammlung Katzen, von Mind gezeichnet, lythographiert von Brodtmann', published in 1819, see 'Zürcherisches Wochen-Blatt', Nr. 78, 27 September 1819.
