- Curator's comments
- This series first appeared in about 1795, see Berchtold Friedrich Haller, Kunstnachrichten aus der Schweiz, vom Jahr 1794 bis 1796, in: Neue Miscellaneen artistischen Inhalts für Künstler und Kunstliebhaber, 1797, p. 585. The publisher's name written in manuscript on 4) and 6) shows that this example appeared at a later date, between 1798 and 1804, when Johann Heinrich Bleuler the Elder lived near Schaffhausen.
