View of the town of Herisau, in the middle of which is a church with a stone tower and spire; beyond the town are two hills, a castle ruin on top of one; at the foot of this hill and to the right is a forest; in the right distance is another settlement; a pond and some fields in the right foreground; in the immediate foreground is a road towards the town, a peasant walking along it, forest to the left.
