Curator's comments
As the print has been trimmed and lacks text in the lower margin, it is impossible to tell whether it is first or second state (not third). From the second state, this print formed part of the series of horses in the Stable of Don Juan of Austria, although initially (and logically) it has nothing to do with the rest of the series. The subject is inspired by a reference in Lucian's Zeuxis.
