- Curator's comments
- All the prints in the sequence 1957,0413.15 to 258 came as a group from the Stradanus albums put together personally by Elizabeth, Duchess of Northumberland(the tabs in the corners are characteristic): see Antony Griffiths, 'Elizabeth, Duchess of Northumberland and her albums of prints' in 'Festschrift for Marjorie B.Cohn' ed. C.Bowen and others, Cambridge Mass. 2001. The ablums were sold complete at the Northumberland sale in 1957 and subsequently broken up, with the BM selecting the prints that it lacked in its own collection.
