These two sepulchres are found in the area of the catacombs of San Callisto. In the background the monuments found in the previous three drawings (1955,1210.10.28, 29 and 30) and Porta San Sebastiano. The inscription on the Vatican version reads: 'View of two ancient Sepulchres on the right of the Via Appia. In the distance are seen the Monuments No. 21 & 22 and the Walls of Rome'. The numbers '21 and 22' correspond to the number sequence of the monochrome drawings in the Vatican. See also 1955,1210.10.30 and 32.
