- Reproduced as plate 12 in Nicolete Gray, 'The paintings of David Jones', 1989. A similar watercolour of 1925 is in the Ashmolean Museum (ibid. pl.11), and one of 1931 is in a private collection (ibid. pl.13).
Three labels were attached to the original frame and are kept in the artist's file in Prints and Drawings. The title as given in the two older labels, for the British Council's Allied Institutes exhibition, and British Artists' Exhibitions' Japan exhibition, both lent by Sir Edward Marsh, is 'A Welsh coast scene'; that of 1954, for the Arts' Council's David Jones exhibition and lent by the Contemporary Art Society, is the first to call it 'Ship off Ynys Byr'.
