- Bound in a second folio edition of Shakespeare (1632), with added illustrations by William Blake (now removed and mounted separately in British Roy PIV 1954-11-13-1 (11,21,22,26,27,37)) and others including Flaxman, William Hamilton, Robert Ker Porter, Mulready, G H Harlow, John Thurston and John Varley. There is one illustration per play, with some blank pages, and an additional one by Blake to Henry IV, pt.i (37). They were commissioned for this copy by the Rev. - For the provenance and story of the acquisition, see the report to the Trustees dated 11 November 1954. The volume was offered to the BM according to the terms of the will of W.E.F.Macmillan.
History of provenance inscribed, by "D P Chase" and dated "10 April 1880", on two sheets inserted at the front of the book. This second folio edition of Shakespeare originally belonged to Judge Dormer (presumably Robert Dormer,1650-1726), passed by descent to Rev. J. Parkhurst; his daughter Millicent, m.1791 Rev. J Thomas (who added the extra-illustrations); their daughter Mrs J W Chase, passed 1876 to her son D P Chase; sold 1880 to A MacMillan; G A MacMillan; W E F MacMillan, presented by his executors in 1954 to the BM.
