- This is described as goldpoint in the manuscript register, a technique which Legros is known to have used, see his drawing of a horse's head copied after the Parthenon marbles in the National Gallery of Art Washington (inv.no 1943.3.5487; S. Sell, in 'Drawing in Silver and Gold: Leonardo to Jasper Johns' Washington and London, 2015, p.197, pl.83).
