There is no painting related to this study from the Spanish period (1692-1702). A more fluid drawing of the same composition is in the Uffizi, Florence (6707 S; Ferrari and Scavizzi, I, no. D151, II, fig. 1035). Scavizzi and Ferrari date both drawings to c. 1694-6. Ferrari (1966) comments on the BM drawing's compositional similarity to an earlier Giordano painting of 1660 in S. Giuseppe a Pontecorvo (S. Giuseppe delle Scalze), Naples (Ferrari fig. 33).
