A close copy of 'Les Grimaces N° 1' by Boilly (pub. 1 Feb. 1823, 162*. b. 3).
One of a set of seven 'Humorous designs by L. Boilly', sold at a guinea. A second series was advertised by E. & C. McLean, Oct. 1823, to be published on or before 1 Nov. 1823. Other English versions were published by D. Alexander, 10 Belgrade Place, East Lane, Walworth, and lithographic versions of at least five of the set were made in England by Agostino Aglio.
