Miller exhibited a number of London subjects at the Society of Artists from 1773 to 1791 and at the Royal Academy from 1781 to 1788 but little of his work is known today. His watercolours - tinted drawings in the traditional manner, often enlivened by anecdotal incident - are close in style to the work of Paul Sandby and no doubt many have been wrongly attributed to that artist.
