- 1948,0224.1 to 10 are a uniform series of gouache drawings on vellum, pasted onto wove backing sheets that have been bound into a re-used late eighteenth-century green gilt leather binding. On the flyleaf is inscribed "Mrs N.F.Edwards / with her brother William Cotton's love / 30th January 1852." Tipped onto the flyleaf is a note by the donor: 'This book and contents were given by the well-known collector Mr William Cotton, MA FSA (who gave the Cottonian collection to the town of Plymouth) to his sister Mary Cotton, my grandmother and it has been in the family's possession since then (1852). J.C.Edwards, Lieut. Gen. RM, 5 Nelson Gardens, Stoke Devonport.'
None of the drawings is signed, and the attribution is traditional.
