When Peter Rabbit didn't have enough food to spare for the Flopsy bunnies, they foraged in the farmer, Mr. McGregor's, rubbish heap. The family was lucky enough to find a quantity of 'shot' lettuces. After this feast, in the scene illustrated here, they fell asleep on the newly mown lawn, Benjamin with a paper bag over his head to keep off the flies. Later Thomasina Tittlemouse woke Benjamin for a chat.
