The group in the centre of the recto must be a Virgin and Child with the Infant Baptist; that top r., representing a schoolmistress and her pupils, is paralleled in 1957,0413.1.
The drawing on the verso is not altogether easy to make out. It seems to represent the sleeved arm, and shoulder enveloped in a heavy and elaborately folded drapery, of a figure leaning against an L-shaped parapet. There is no indication of a head or neck, though what may be a very rapidly sketched hand protrudes from the sleeve. We have not been able to interpret the small black chalk scribbles between the arm and the lower edge.
A weak copy of the upper part of the recto is in the Uffizi (42l0s as Properzia dei Rossi; Gernsheim 7207). A similar sheet of pen and ink studies (no wash) by Polidoro is in the Louvre as Agostino Carracci (7127; Gernsheim 184).
