- Originally attributed by A.E. Popham to Paolo Veronese, but later moved by him to Casolani. It is comparable to a drawing by Casolani of Samson and Delilah in the Uffizi, Florence (inv. 4885S) and a drawing in the Crawford album (fol. 131 verso). A horizontal painting of the subject is in a private collection, Siena (illustrated in colour as no. 33 in '"Il piacere del colorire" Artistic Itinerary of Alessandro Casolani 1552/53-1607', 2002; M. Ciampolini, 'Pittori Senesi del seicento', Siena, 2010, I, p. 110 (with a list of related drawings).
