- Tentatively relate by Ward to the thieves in the lost relief of the 'Deposition' which Bandinelli presented to the Emperor Charles V in Genoa in 1528/9. Comparable drawings with thieves lashed to tree trunks are in the Musée du Louvre, Paris, Nasjonalgalleriet, Oslo, the Uffizi, and a private collection (see exhib. cat., Cambridge, Fitzwilliam Museum, 'Baccio Bandinelli Drawings from British Collections', 1988, under no. 27). Drawing on verso is by a later, 17th c. Florentine hand (Biliverti?).
