- The drawing is the by the same hand as a study for an immaculate conception in the Apelles collection attributed to Francisco Camilo (see Z. Véliz, 'Dibujos españoles del siglo de oro', Oviedo, 2002, no.18). The drawing is closer to the hand of Claudio Coello. See for example, two drawings of the Virgin and Child illlustrated in 'Dessins espagnols. Maîtres des XVIe et XVIIe siècles', Paris, 1991, cat.nos 56 & 57.
