- Curator's comments
- The same figures appear on page 56 recto of the so-called 'Raphael' or 'Venetian' sketchbook in the Accademia, Venice (all the drawings are illustrated in Ferino Pagden's catalogue). This is a collection of copies made probably by a young artist in the circle of Perugino in the early XVI century. Ferino Pagden suggests that the BM copyist might also be responsible for two drawings in the Ashmolean also copied from the sketchbook: K.T. Parker, 'Catalogue of the Collection of Drawings in the Ashmolean Museum', II, Oxford 1956, nos. 37-8). 1895,0915.640 is a copy from the same model.
