- Babette Bohn has pointed out that this is related to a painting, signed and dated 1664, now in a private collection (F. Zeri et al, 'Arte emiliana dalle raccolte storiche al nuovo collezionismo', Modena, 1989, no. 80, p. 111; Bohn fig. 34). The drawing corresponds extremely closely with the finished work, as is frequently the case with Elisabetta's studies, and it is unclear if is really a preparatory design or a record made after the completion of the canvas. There is also an etching by Lorenzo Loli (Bartsch 3) of the composition.
