Curator's comments
This is a weak copy, probably based on a tracing, of the right-hand half of the drawing 'The Adoration of the Magi' by Hans Holbein the Elder in the Kunstmuseum Basel (U.11, 1662.217; Falk, 'Basel', p. 79, no. 164, repr.). The copyist has added the wash quite differently from the original.
