- R. Eitel Porter points out that this is copied from Roncalli's pendentives in main cupola of St Peter's, Rome.

Similar flying angels by Roncalli, in triangular spaces, flank the 'tondi' of Evangelists in the pendentives of the main cupola of St Peter's; others occur in the pendentives of the Rucellai Chapel (second on l.) in S. Andrea della Valle (see 'Paragone', 91 (1957). pl. 30a, and 93 (1957), p. 64) which Baglione attributes to Roncalli's pupil and follower G.B. Crescenzi; but in neither case is there any satisfactory correspondence.
