- Curator's comments
- Companion to portrait of her husband, William Darling to complement the portraits made of her famous daghter, Grace Darling. Advertised in 'The Spectator': 'lithographed with vigour and spirit by Miss LOUISA CORBAUX., Mrs. Darling is a comfortable, " crummy dame," remarkable for nothing but being the mother of a daughter whose fame fills all England.' (17 November 1838)

- Acquisition notes
- 1943,0410.2 to 2625 was acquired en bloc from Suckling & Co. See Hind's report to the Trustees 6 April 1943. Suckling had checked their stock against the BM portrait catalogue and put aside any missing items, which were then checked by P&D staff. In 1939 the BM acquired 375 prints (letters A-BUL) (see 1939,1014.24 to 145). This group acquired in 1943 covers the letters BUR-S, and the acquisition was made using funds provided by the National Art Collections Fund.
