Suckling had checked their stock against the BM portrait catalogue and put aside any missing items, which were then checked by P&D staff. In 1939 the BM acquired 375 prints (letters A-BUL) (see 1939,1014.24 to 145). This group acquired in 1943 covers the letters BUR-S, and the acquisition was made using funds provided by the National Art Collections Fund.
