- Curator's comments
- Illustrating the vineyard parable told in Matthew 20: 'For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire men to work in his vineyard...' The landowner continues to hire workers throughout the day, paying each a denarius, whether they worked all day or only for the last hour. When the workers hired in the morning complain, the owner tells them 'So the last will be first, and the first will be last'.
