- Curator's comments
- Volrábová has recently reattributed this drawing to the Strassburger Johann Wilhelm Baur, together with two very closely related views of Linz and Einsiedeln also traditionally given to Hollar (now Paris and Hamburg respectively: see Volrábová A.II/17 and 18). In all three she observes a looser, freer use of wash than is typically found in Hollar's oeuvre, plus a more abbreviated delineation of buildings.
See also comment on 1850,0223.195, another Strasbourg drawing with a disputed attribution.
