Gere 1994
In a letter to William Bell Scott dated "Kelmscott 15 September", Rossetti describes Morris's return from Iceland and continues: "One day he was here he went for a day's fishing in our punt, the chief result of which was a sketch I made, inscribed as follows [as above, with "Skald", the ancient Icelandic word for poet, substituted for "Morris"]".
