Curator's comments
Acquired as the aquatinted state of an outline etching by Dighton. (Description and comment from M.Dorothy George, 'Catalogue of Political and Personal Satires in the British Museum', VII, 1942) A final state (coloured impression) mezzotinted by Sadd and published by him in 1839. (Supplementary information) According to Dorothy George, this is the reworked state with added mezzotint of an etching by M.N.Bate, published much earlier (BMSat 8815). For the etching, see 1978,U.1907.
