A long column of soldiers, accompanied by camels and an elephant, marches down a ravine between steeply-rising mountains towards the distant plains; in the middle-ground mounted soldiers descend from the right and camels from the left to join the long column; in the foreground a group of people sit amongst baggage, with camels, an ox and a goat, and a horseman approaches them from the left. 1842

According to the Description of the Plates the descent through the Pass continued to be as dangerous as before, with camels losing their footing and falling into the ravines. The column made camp at the bottom of the hills two miles from the plain of Chumum where the First brigade had encamped.
