- Description
-
A night scene, lit by a crescent moon. Men and women flee in abject terror from a menacing figure draped in a sheet, apparently on stilts, with glaring eyeballs, long beard, and talons on its outstretched hands. One of the fugitives is on a terrified horse, another is a watchman with lantern and rattle. 8 January 1825
