Curator's comments
The plate was originally of Edward the Black Prince (see Hind 33.6), and was later altered to show Henry the Navigator, Prince of Portugal, who captured Ceuta in 1415. In this state the plate was used as the frontispiece to Sir Richard Fanshawe's translation of Camoes' Lusiads of 1655.
