- Dr Pamela Gerrish Nunn (email March 2022): This picture was reproduced in 'The People's Miscellany' of April 1867 (you can see the relevant page on the internet although it is not a good image, nor easy to see the detail, having been posted as a tease for the sale of the periodical). It relates closely to more than one painting by Anderson made at the time, e.g. using the same model, but I cannot connect it definitely to any exhibited work. We can without being unkind call them potboilers, I think, but they were very popular - Charles Dodgson was one of her fans at this time...
