- Curator's comments
- A similar figure appears in a crayon manner engraving by Gilles Demarteau after a drawing belonging to Madame de la Haye, see P. Jean-Richard, 'L'oeuvre gravé de François Boucher dans la Collection Edmond de Rothschild', Paris, 1978, no. 765. The differences between the BM drawing and the one reproduced in the print include minor details of the figure's costume, such as her being shown barefooted in the engraving , and in the background.
