Curator's comments: Grivel (2009) has identified the engraver as Jean Rabel the younger (c.1548-1603) in her catalogue raisonné of prints by father and son Rabel in the Bibliothèque nationale de France. It is listed as dating from 1586. This impression is from the first of two states. In the second state Rabel's name is replaced by that of Granthomme.
