The notorious highway Richard Turpin, on horseback, jumping over high fence in Hornsey, north London, pistols in either hand shooting both in front and behind him, looking backwards towards his pursuers, also on horseback with pistols and bayonets; the men at the tollgate gesturing with alarm.
