This plate is part of a group of five representing one hundred officers from the French Revolutionary wars and Napoleonic wars. The sitters are arranged alphabetically and are all depicted bust-length. All the plates were engraved by Bovinet, with Vathier working as intermediary draughtsman rather than designer (Desaix's portrait for instance is after Guérin).
