Description
The arrest of Robespierre and his supporters at the Hôtel de Ville on 27 July 1794 (9 Thermidor An II); with soldiers and armed people bursting into a room iand taking Robespierre and his followers into custody; at centre a man shoots Robespierre, who falls into the arms of Saint-Just; at their feet Couthon, who has fallen off his wheelchair, brandishes a dagger as a soldier grabs his hair; Lebas, who has shot himself, lieds on the floor on the right; in the background, Robespierre's brother jumps out of the window Stipple engraving, printed in colour
