- Curator's comments
- Appears to be a later state of a plate first published in 1790 as part of "Collection générale des Portraits de MM. les Deputés des trois Ordres assemblés à Versailles en 1789" (for comment on series see 1881,0709.32), with the text presumably altered after the assassination of Le Pelletier in 1793; however no impression of the the earlier state is known, and the BnF, which normally holds the preparatory drawings for the "Collection générale", does not have the preparatory drawing for this plate.

- Acquisition notes
- The BM bought 45 lots at the 1925 sale of the Lindsay library collection of French revolutionary and Napoleonic era prints through Agnew's for a total of £92 17s (1925,0615.131 to 466). The collection had been formed by the vendor's father, the 26th Earl. The BM acquired many other prints from the same collection at other times.
