Curator's comments
It is possible that the print originally included six lines of Flemish verse in the lower margin, which has been trimmed on this impression. If so, this would be Lebeer 28.III rather than 28.II, as one might also expect since he only records Bruegel's signature in the third state. This would also more closely accord with Bastelaer's description of the second state of this print.
