- Curator's comments
- A note was left by David Kunzle, author of 'Father of the Comic Strip: Rodolphe Töpffer' (Univ. Press of Mississippi, 2007) with this volume:
"This volume is actually a plagiary of 1841 by Aubert in Paris, of the original by Töpffer first printed and semi-published in Geneva 1833 (the date on most copies) and generally distributed in 1835, the date given (with a ?) in the ML Catalogue, and in a few copies I have seen".
This is clearly also the case with 1919,1019.4, 'Mr Crépin'.
