- Curator's comments
- There are two entries for this lithograph in Armelhault & Bocher.
Catalogue number 2390 is in the section 'Costumes et Modes', sub-section 'La Mode', part of a group of nine lithographs with full catalogue entries, from a series of 'Costumes', format in-8, published in the periodical 'La Mode'.
The nine lithograph are also listed in the section 'Revues et Journaux', sub-section 'La Mode', pp.326-327, with two additional lithographs, and more detail is provided about the periodical. Its full title was 'La Mode, revue des modes, galerie des moeurs, album des salons', and it was published in Paris in livraisons in-8, appearing on Saturdays from October 1829. It is also stated that the subtitle changed from 1831 to 'Revue du monde élegant' and in July 1842 to 'Revue politique et littéraire and that the last issue was on 15 September 1854. It is assumed that the two additional lithographs in this section were not included in the later section of the caatalogue because their subject-matter is not primarily costume and fashion.
