- This is a dedication page that prefaces a series of 13 plates in a bound album; copies of a series originally engraved by Sébastien Le Clerc in 1704 (see 1917,1208.70.265 for more information); a series of plates representing and celebrating the military exploits of Charles V Duke of Lorraine; this series of copies is mentioned in Jombert, 'Catalogue Raisonnée de l'oeuvre de S. Le Clerc', Vol. II, p. 230, note 1 and in 'Inventaire du fonds français graveurs du XVIIe siècle', Vol. 8, pp. 204-07; this series reverses the images in the original compilation by Le Clerc and contains only a selection of prints from the original series.
