- Curator's comments
- Hendrick Cezar, the publisher named here, was one of the men who secured Baartman as a performer in the Cape, and became her showman when she arrived in London in 1810. This is an impression from a worn and reworked plate; for an earlier state and further information, see reg. no. 1872,0713.141.
