No.23: A man whole length in profile to right. carries on his back a doll-like woman who takes the place of the macaroni club. She is swathed round in black ribbon and so attached to his shoulders in the manner of a club of hair. He leers, and carries a tasselled cane with a sharp handle set with what appears to be a snuff-box. He wears a large frilled cravat and a very short coat. She wears a ribbon-trimmed hat, frilled elbow-sleeves, her body is covered with the black swathing, her clocked stockings are visible to the knees. 21 July 1772
