- Drawn during Webber's time as official artist to Captain Cook's third voyage to the Pacific, 1776-1780, for more on this album see 1914,0520.358.
Cook's ships visited the Hawaiian Islands twice: 30 Jan - 2 Feb 1778 and 17 Jan - 14 March 1779. It is most likely that this was drawn during the more extended stay, see R. Joppien and B. Smith, 'The Art of Captain Cook's Voyages, Volume Three, text ', Yale UP, 1988, no. 21, pp. 72-9 (first visit) and no. 30, pp. 121-9 (second visit)
