- This impression comes from a series of India paper proofs before letters in the BM (1913,0212.10 to 69) which were later published in the Art Journal; it remains to be determined in which issue this print was published in. Many of these were subsequently reprinted in James' Dafforne 'Modern Art: a Series of Line Engravings from the Works of Distinguished Painters of the English and Foreign Schools ... With Descriptive text by J. Dafforne'', London (Virtue & Co); this comprised 120 prints after paintings by contemporary masters issued in two series of 60 plates each (1886). 22 of these India proofs in the BM overlap with prints in the series 1923,1112.121 to 168, which were probably cut out from Dafforne's volume and sold to the BM as loose prints.
