Description
The Seven Sorrows of the Virgin; copy after Sebald Beham. Mary standing at the centre, slightly turned to the right, her arms crossed on her chest which is being pierced by a sword. Around her depictions of the seven sorrows framed by circular clouds. These are, on the left from bottom to top: the Presentation in the Temple, the Flight into Egypt; Christ amongst the Doctors. Above the Virgin: the Road to Calvary. On the right from top to bottom: the Crucifixion, the Descent from the Cross and the Entombment. Woodcut
