- All three drawings mounted on the same mount (1908,0616.12/14) can be dated to the mid-to-late 1740s, the flickering, nervous penwork and the assured use of different shades of wash in the BM studies is very like the Hamburg design for one of the 'Carceri' series of 1749/50 (Thomas, no. 4).
