- Curator's comments
- The colophon reads : Argentoragi, Iohannes Grieningerus, communibus Iohannis Koberger impensis excudebat. Anno ....M.D.XXV. It seems that this book was published in Strassburg (Johannes Gründiger), however Paisey mentions also Nuremberg as publication place. This aspect needs to be clarified.
The book contains 50 large woodcut maps, which are apparently the same as in a previous edition of 1522.
According to Paisey, some of the borders are by Hans Wechtlin, some by Franz Gerster.
The last map is signed with LF 1522 (Laurentius Frisius).
This book contains the book-plate of W Mitchell, and it has MS notes, some in French.
