- Curator's comments
- This has been taken by von Heusinger as an example to point out the difference in style between Jacopo and Domenico Tintoretto's drawings, with the aim to restitute to Jacopo the drawing in Braunschweig representing the 'Return of Pomphey after the battle of Pharsalus', which Rossi attributed to Domenico (cf. P. Rossi, 'Per il catalogo tintorettiano', in P. Rossi and L. Puppi (eds), "Tintoretto nel quarto centenario della morte. Atti del convegno internazionale di studi", Venice 1996, p. 120).
1907-7-17-1 to 90 is a so-called sketchbook, dismembered after its acquisition in 1907. A Title Page inscribed in brown ink is at the beginning of the series.
